Non Gender support for SRL's in Children's and Property matters.

This site provides over 65 'closed members only' forums for SRLs. This site is not public (no search engines or ex's) and can only be accessed by verified members. Providing a wealth of experience, knowledge and documents the site provides a one stop shop for those that are representing themselves or using unbundled legal services.

For over 13 years, SRL-R has been providing indirect support and direct 'one on one' support services for SRL's. In 2006 SRL-R created SRL public discussion, question and answer forums and 3 'members only' private forums on the FamilyLawWebGuide. Those forums have become the most active on the FLWG. Because of the high demand to create a more private, more specialised and expanded 'special areas' - this site has been created.

SRL-R is recognised as the pre-eminent organisation that provides 'real world' answers, knowledge and support to SRLs.

SRL-Resources

We are non-gender and non-political. We support Mothers, Fathers and 'Significant Adults'. We support the child's right to a happy healthy life and the opportunity to have a meaningful relationship with both parents, as long as it is safe and viable to do so. We do not support violence against women and children or men. We can help you with matters in relation to children and property. Help may be useful if you are separating, have a parenting plan or orders and want to know what avenues are open to you as a possible self-represented litigant. Perhaps you have simply run out of money in paying legal fees and your matter has not concluded. Perhaps you have orders that are regularly being contravened. We can assist with all of this.

Bundled and Unbundled

You can join us because you want a first, second or third opinion. Remember as an SRL you can with many solicitors use unbundled services - that is pay for just parts of your case rather than 100%.

Help Yourself Site BUT with Support

Running your own case may be the hardest thing you ever have to do. You can help yourself by taking direction from moderators. We will support you and mentor you to develop the skills you need. The court process is a journey and one that can change you and your family's lives forever. We aim to help you reach the end point with the best outcome available.

What this site - is NOT

This is a non gender site, it is not a Fathers Rights, Mothers Rights or Grandparents Rights site - its purpose is to help you navigate through the sometimes complicated and traumatic processes of the Family Courts of Australia. This is not a venting site - its purpose is to provide you with the tools and assistance for your Court journey. This site is non-political - we deal with 'hear and now' issues and not what the Family Law Act may contain in the future.

Community

Community means that although we are individuals, we have chosen to band together for a common purpose. In order to achieve this common purpose, we require that members work together. This means sharing and supporting however and wherever possible. We ask that when your matter is completed and you leave the site, you have left it better for your presence by your contributions. Community involves choice, you have chosen to be here and we choose you to be here.

How this site works

The Points Structure. When you join you will receive a certain number of points for you to use. Further points are gained by postings and submitting useful court-related material and, of course, by outright donation.

Joining this site

This is not a free site, you are expected to reciprocate. If you believe you are owed a free service or free ride, and that people should dip into their pockets and time to help you, then this site is NOT for you. We have a philosophical objection to this. If you expect free rides in life then you are probably not a good role model for your child/ren.

What happens if you are 'Unable' to help yourself

There are always people who because of their background (be it issues of second language, education or learning difficulties) that just don't have the capacity to represent themselves properly. We understand this and we have free points to give away to genuinely deserving cases. However, there is a small catch - we work on the principle that we will give you those points - if you are giving elsewhere, in some other Community activity. If you really need the free points then request a points donation form.

What happens if you are 'Unwilling' to help yourself?

Then we suggest you go and see a good Family Lawyer. If you cannot devote the time and effort required to self-represent, we cannot do it for you. You will need to pay someone who will.

A Private Site

This is a private site and is only open to those whose identities have been verified. There are several reasons why we need to know that an applicant is who they say they are. Family law is an emotive area and there are many individuals and organisations that may have a vested interest in maintaining the status quo. As such, we need to protect our moderator's privacy in addition to your privacy. Another scenario, is that an "ex" or their legal representative may learn that you are receiving help and seek to join. In legal firms, a method called a Chinese Wall can be used if the firm represents both parties. On SRL-Resources, we choose to use a total barrier and only support one party.

General site rules

liability

We will not guarantee the accuracy, validity, integrity or security status of any content on this website, and will accept no liability from any issues that may result from it. We do not scan all hosted files for viruses.

User posted content is out of our control unless we have known about the presence of it for at least one full week.

Accounts and your behaviour

Do not join this website more than once (hence creating multiple accounts). If you cannot remember your password, use the 'lost password' feature, which is available on the login page. If problems persist, contact the staff.

If you need multiple accounts i.e. a personal account plus an account for any organisation you represent contact admin via the links page.

Do not pose as, or wilfully act as, a member of staff.

Do not choose a username that will offend either an individual or a group of people.

Do not choose a username that you know has been used by another person on other forums

General posting/submission guidelines

Do not post any copyrighted material for which you have no right to do so.

Do not use strong/harsh swearing or sexual references.

Do not display sexism in your posts.

Do not link to or post pornography.

Staff have the right to edit, censor, delete or otherwise modify any content message they feel is inapproriate, without any warning given to the poster.

Do not submit any content that you know to contain viruses or commonly exploited security holes.

Any content submitted to us, will not necessarily be removed by request. We are not bound to remove submitted content and anything submitted should be assumed to be staying on our servers, publicly accessible permanently. By submitting, you are aware of the consequences of this, and take responsibility of it, and may not at any time insist on content being withdrawn.

Do not try to bypass the word filter: filtered words are placed in the filter in accordance with guidelines, and obvious misspellings or equally obnoxious alternatives, only serve to work against the wishes of the staff.

Do not post spoilers (material that reveals information relating to the subject matter of this website before the majority of members have learnt it through the channels they would wish to) in your topic titles. If you wish to post spoilers inside a topic give good warning about their presence, or use the Comcode 'hide' tag.

Do not post a link to a website that contains material that would be in violation of the rules if posted directly on this website. Special exceptions may be given by the staff when clear warnings are put in place.

Do not incite illegal activity, either directly, or by educating with the obvious purpose to make it more achievable.

Do not spam this website:
  • you must be moderately confident that anything posted will interest at least a minority of the members.
  • you must not post material more than once unless there is good reason, from the point of view of other members.

Do not intentionally disrupt the enjoyment of this website by other users. 'Enjoyment' has a general meaning for the purposes of this rule - for example, robust argument in a debate forum would be considered 'enjoyable', as debators would wish for it.

This website is private property and hence any form of censorship is allowed at the discretion of the staff - you agree not to consider this website a forum for free speech if the staff consider it breaks the rules.

Forums

Be respectful of the opinions of other members, and do not discrimate based on nationality, sexuality, gender, religion or race. Do not flame or degrade other members. If you have a problem with another members actions, contact a member of staff.

Do not double post (post consecutively in a topic) on the forum unless€
  • You have new information to add after several days since your previous post was made
  • You are bumping a topic after several days of no replies
  • You are quoting various posts, and feel the need to do so in separate posts

Do not complain in-topic about the subject being too far off-topic or otherwise breaking rules. Use the 'report post' feature to alert a member of staff instead. Leave it to staff to establish what is and is not acceptable posting.

Feedback

The feedback forum and page were created so members may contact staff on matters that require attention. Please make an extra effort to not go off-topic in these areas, and use the most appropriate channels when communicating with staff. Our staff must read every last post of feedback, so off-topic messages will annoy them.

Signatures

Images in your signature should not exceed 50k in size, 468 pixels wide, or 110 pixels tall. For a guideline, this is about five lines of standard-sized text space. Text in your signature should also not exceed more than 5 lines of normal-sized text space.

Remember that a big signature is not always a good signature. Keep it nice and simple. Feel free to advertise your website if you wish, if the link to it does not itself break site rules.

Avatars

For your own sake, avoid trying to use .bmp files as avatars - the system will not let you, because you should compress them to a more appropriate format, such as the .png format.
Avatars size is restricted by the system according to your usergroup.

Points

Points may be deducted if in the opinion of staff your post does not add value to the topic.

Hacking

You may not, unless explicitly given permission by a high-ranking member of staff, try to hack into this website. For the purpose of this rule, 'hacking' includes any technique designed to compromise the security or stability of the website.

Personal topics and posts

The staff reserve the right to read any personal topics and posts placed on this website. Any form of conversation made through this website should be considered viewable by staff.

Violation

The staff reserve the right to ban any member who breaks any rule, whether the rule is agreed as broken by the alleged offender or not. No warning or explanations need be given.

The staff also reserve the right to change these rules at any time.
